The Dream Spalet Destination Competition 2018 is a concerted effort on the company’s part for the Spalet culture to take root in Asia, by promoting toilet evolution from its traditional use to an unparalleled level of hygiene with Spalets.
The competition invites architects and designers from Asia Pacific to submit their hospitality projects featuring Spalet products (shower toilets/ electronic bidets seats) from any of LIXIL’s 3 brands – INAX, Grohe and American Standard. Shortlisted projects were featured on www.ilovespalet.com where consumers voted for their choice of a ‘Dream Spalet Destination’. Day 2, 13 July

Blue and White Pottery Toilets from the late 19th and early 20th centuries
Olden days blue and white pottery toilets were also head-turners in the tour. In most Meiji-era (1868-1912) Japanese households, such blue and white ceramic bowls expressed the hospitality and thoughtfulness of the host, who chose the color white and blue to visually dispel the often-gloomy space of a bathroom. Guests also saw the first made-in-Japan shower toilet at work, still fully functional after more than half a century!
There was also a hands-on clay making workshop at the INAX Museum where architects, designers and the media experienced the joy of making Dorodango or ‘lustrous clay balls’.

LIXIL top executives took to the stage and wowed the audience with the great story of LIXIL’s pioneering history of innovation, technology and design evolution. The evening concluded with a surprise appearance by the Spalet Sensei and the announcement of the Dream Spalet Destination Grand prize Winner: Grande Centre Point Sukhumvit 55, Bangkok.
